If there is one thing, I hate doing, it’s outdoor work on a hot day. Unfortunately, I do a lot of outdoor work and where I live, every last day is hot. The sun blares down on you like an angry god with a grudge, and you have the sad situation of owing it money. If you go higher up, it feels like you’re moving closer to the sun. I swear, on the worst summer days I feel like an egg in a frying pan, and someone turned the heat up higher than necessary. Still, you do what you have to do. I can’t say there’s a real shortage of that sort of work around my area. There’s always a part of the fence that needs fixing. If it isn’t that, I need to apply some shingles on the roof or make repairs to the shed.
Today, I realized that we had some clogged gutters. Now, I’ve seen what clogged gutters can do in the past. Over time, the water builds up, and it just eats away at the structure. It doesn’t matter if you’ve got concrete or wood, the moisture eats away at it little by little. I saw this in action at my sister’s old house. My sister is somewhat odd. She is very particular about the interiors. Everything has to be exact, from the tiles to the layout. Once you get to the outlying areas, she doesn’t care. Something about just caring about her personal living space, she says.
I suppose that mindset is what made the problem escalate in the first place. By the time my sister saw the water stains, it was already a huge problem. She spent a tonne of money getting all the damages fixed. It took the contractors hours to find where the leak was. By the time she did, she had learned the lesson about keeping the gutters on her house clean as a whistle. When I saw the same problem at my house, I knew I needed to get on top of it fast. The gutter wasn’t as clogged as at my sister’s. That one had about six years of grime and junk piled up because nobody there really paid attention.
It was blisteringly hot. I didn’t feel like finding a ladder and going up there to clean it out. I didn’t have a high-pressure hose that could get that high, either. Still, I had to get those gutters cleaned out somehow. After a few minutes of thinking, I gave up and called up spotless spotlessguttercleaningperth.com.au to do it. I might as well get professionals on the job. Granted, I still had to be outdoors under the sun, but at least I wasn’t the one doing all the work. As it turns out, there wasn’t that much damage and dirt to clean up. There was a significant amount, but as far as they could tell, it hadn’t caused much damage yet. They did figure out that there was something wrong with the insulation up in the attic. I noted that down. I’m going to have to get that fixed in the future.
